Marcy: It's Valentine's Day, and I will stay in Baltimore at the home of a Professor (and his attorney wife) from EE Department at Johns Hopkins. the three of us are going out for a Valentine's dinner, even though my Valentine will be 1,500 miles away. I wish you magic and love on this special day.

Hi Marcy,
Good to see your smiling face again on the site. I really enjoyed the introduction to Django session that you did at Kamp. It's a wee bit of a jazz black hole down here on the Portuguese Algarve. What they call Jazz is more endless fusion stuff, very clever but I keep waiting for the tune to start. I play piano witha Dixieland style band three nights a week during the season, but I'm trying to get into solo voice and guitar in the 20's 3'0's and 4o's classic song book. It's a trial and error process mostly, but playing piano gives me a bit of an edge. I just miss the back line when I'm playing on my own. The UK is putting on TV some of the 60's 70's folk stuff from the Albert Hall. Looks interesting if you can get it over there. Whwn you see Tom Paxton say hello from me. He inroduced me and Harvey Andrews to the audience one evening at The Royal Festival Hall. My knees are still knocking.
Keep fit and well.

Love

Yeah... Crawdad Song! Whoopie! It was great to play in the slow jams with you and Casey. The slow jams with a giggle or even two are delightful. Highly recommended even for the seasoned picker. They were in airconditioning last year. : ) You missed it.
THANKS for all the smiles you've added to many Kamps. Lots of great memories of your inspiring picking, joyous singing and happy grins. : ) Inspiring..... Dern I gotta practice more.. C YA soon in 2010! Patsy

Marcy: Just found that I have to be in Baltimore the afternoon and evening of Sat, Feb 14 so that I can attend a mid-Sunday technical meeting. Will you be performing in the Baltimore area on Feb 14? I probably would be able to attend.

Also, two of my guitar students are 6 and 9 year old brothers. Where can I read more details about your juvenile instructional DVD's? Also, what is the URL of your website?

Marcy: Yes, I took lessons from Eric Thompson 1967 and 1968 until my job and my marriage and my kids took up more and more of my time. Once things cleared (and I really mean "cleared) late last century, I returned to Eric on Jan, 2000 to continue my training. So I am known as "Eric's slowest student." (having a 32-year gap in my training). I will see him a lot in January, and I will pass on your greetings.

I used to get to Baltimore a lot, as my consulting for a client here in New Mexico caused me to spend much time helping with a laser development project in Lithincum. This activity led to the eating of an inordinate number of crabcakes at G&M, That activity abruptly stopped about 2 years ago with a Gov't funding closure, but I'll be back late May early June for a laser conference in Baltimore. Perhaps we can cross paths then, or at KK later in June.

I don't recall our meeting, so I will introduce myself. I am a very long-term guitar student of Eric Thompson, and for 5 years a mandolin student of Sharon Gilchrist. I did advanced guitar 2006 and intermediate mandolin 2008. I had a great visit with Kathy Barwick, whom I am sure you know. I enjoy a lot of jam and duet work here in the Santa Fe area in Northern New Mexico.
